    Cat Hospital of Petaluma is a feline only specialty practice. We are small but busy and treat our clients like family. We are looking for someone who can provide compassionate nursing care while presenting a positive and professional image when dealing with clients and coworkers.     Qualifications
    • Hold a current CA RVT license and be in good standing with the board.
    • Two years related animal care experience preferred, specific feline experience a plus.
    • Experience and comfort in humane animal handling and restraint of fractious cats.
    • Willingness to work flexible days and hours, including rotating Saturdays.
    Position requirements
    • Knowledgeable and proficient in all tasks required by a licensed RVT.
    • Broad knowledge and understanding of animal science, medicine and husbandry.
    • Sufficient knowledge of pharmacology and mathematical skills to ensure the accurate administration of drug and fluid doses.
    • The ability to successfully restrain cats, complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiology techniques, administer and monitor animals under anesthesia, assist in surgery and perform dental procedures.
    • The ability to follow directions with/ without supervision, and ask clarifying questions.
    • The ability to lift objects up to 50lbs. (litter bags, food bags, etc.)
    • The ability to bend down and reach into cages.
    • The ability to work with computers and other office equipment.
    • Willingness to teach, show leadership and help wherever needed.
    • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Must demonstrate self-motivation, responsibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
    Job duties
    • Maintain veterinary technician license
    • Keep up with new developments in the field by reading journals and attending CE meetings.
    • Provide knowledgeable advice to clients 
    • concerning the care and treatment of animals, including home care instructions.
    • Know common drugs and protocols and be able to explain them to clients.
    • Record all conversations with clients and patient care in the medical record.
    • Prepare and maintain treatment area, assist coworkers in other housekeeping duties.
    • Properly set up, position patients and take radiographs.
    • Understand use and care of surgical materials and hospital equipment.
    • Admit and discharge patients following hospital policy and veterinarian’s orders.
    • Monitor inventory and assist in ordering supplies.
    • Oversee dispensing of controlled drugs. Ensure compliance with DEA rules and CURES reporting
