Veterinary Technician/Assistant (petaluma) 

Approximately 24-30 hours/week
Position requirements
-the ability to follow directions with and without supervision
-the ability to lift objects up to 50lbs. (litter bags, food bags, etc.)
-the ability to bend down and reach into cages
-the ability to learn and recognize certain behaviors in animals
-the ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology and minor procedures
-the ability to admit or ask questions when the task is unclear
-the ability to work with computers and other office equipment
-the ability to spell, alphabetize and perform basic mathematics
-the ability to provide exceptional customer service
-the ability to be compassionate, sympathetic and professional during high stress situations

Job duties
-basic animal restraint, feeding and cleaning
-cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment
-stocking of supplies throughout hospital
-basic record keeping, filing and maintaining of patient records
-sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry
-following daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and task lists
-assisting technicians, doctors and receptionists with whatever is needed

**This is by no means a complete list, tasks may be added or removed from the list as deemed necessary for the safety and well being of our patients. There is opportunity for growth for assistants who demonstrate a desire to learn and perform more in our hospital. By assisting the rest of the staff with whatever is needed we can maintain the high standard of care for our patients and forge strong bonds with our clients. Prior experience is a plus but we are willing to train the right person.
