Healdsburg RVT

The Sonoma Humane Society has a longstanding tradition of giving hope to homeless animals and we are seeking a part-time Registered Veterinary Technician to work in our Healdsburg shelter to help us further our mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- · Must have a broad knowledge & understanding of animal science, medicine, and husbandry, including a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses.
- · Must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiology techniques, administer and monitor animals under anesthesia, assist in surgery, and perform dental procedures as needed.
- · Ability to work independently and perform intake exams without assistance.
- · Knowledge of low-stress restraint, accurate records keeping, ability to triage which animals need immediate veterinary care, and ability to screen for signs of common infectious diseases.
- · Clean and disinfect animal areas as necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- · Always care for and treat animals in a compassionate and humane manner.
Job requirements
- · Must be a currently licensed Registered Veterinary Technician in California.
- · Must maintain RVT license as required by law including attending outside CE as required.
- · Be able to lift pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
This is a part time position, Sunday - Saturday / 12pm – 4pm. These 7 weekly shifts will be divided amongst 2 RVTS pending each person’s availability.
